Audi will introduce four new diesel models to the U.S. market in 2013, all of which will be at the upcoming 2012 L.A. Auto Show.
Audi’s A8, A7, A6 and Q5 will now be available with diesel engines which the company says will improve efficiency by 30 percent. First to reach the market, the A8 TDI will be available by spring 2013, while the rest of the TDI variants will hit dealers by fall of 2013.
The flagship Audi A8 will now be available with eight different engine options, the newest of which is a 3.0-liter diesel capable of making 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. Audi claims the diesel will come with fuel economy ratings of 24 mpg city 36 mpg highway.
The A7, A6, and Q5 will all get the same 3.0-liter diesel as the larger A8, which should increase fuel economy significantly, though Audi didn’t release any numbers.
While it isn’t new to the oil-burning world, the Q7 TDI gets a new 3.0-liter diesel as well, which Audi claims will make the Q7 good for 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.
